Physical Facilities
The Physical Facilities Department at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette New Iberia Research Center consists of specialists skilled in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, hydraulics, welding, construction, general mechanics, and preventative maintenance techniques. The Physical Facilities Department also manages the custodial staff and laundry services staff.
Preventative maintenance is an ongoing task and driven by Standard Operating Procedures. Physical Facilities personnel are on site 365 days a year. Due to the nature of our programs, and the 24-hour schedule of the center, a select group of workers are available 24 hours a day any day of the year. Additionally, stand-by generator power is available to all critical systems (e.g., freezers, air exhaust, emergency lighting, etc.) located at the Center.
Many of the animal housing units and implements for environmental enhancement used at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette New Iberia Research Center have been designed and/or built and modified by the department. The Physical Facilities Department has constructed/renovated the majority of buildings that make up the University of Louisiana at Lafayette New Iberia Research Center. All factory repairs and new construction or expansion efforts are administrated by the Physical Facilities Department as well. The Center continues to stay abreast of the ever-developing facility needs and growth in the field of bio-medical research.
