University of Louisiana at Lafayette-New Iberia Research Center
Computer Services provides for the Center’s computing requirements
with a system of networked personal computers, interconnected by
a Local Area Network and with high-speed access to the Internet
and the computing resources at the University’s main campus.
The full-time computer services staff maintains these computers,
validates commercial software systems and develops new software
to meet the Center’s requirements. The staff insures Center
clients' information needs are met, including developing customized
reports, if needed.
A centralized database maintains records on all animals. Using
this, computing services personnel are able to quickly generate
unique data queries, reports, statistical analysis and data mining
on demand. Daily backups of critical data, including the database,
are stored in a secured, fire-resistant facility, insuring the safety
of all electronic data of interest to the Center clients.
