The Division of Animal Resources provides program management and
logistical support for multiple non-human primate SPF breeding programs
contracted with private commercial pharmaceutical sponsors. The
breeding programs are established to provide a continuous supply
of non-human primates that are SPF for B virus and the retroviruses
(SIV, SRV, STLV-1). Current breeding programs are operational for
several non-human species:
- Macaca mulatta
- Macaca nemestrina
- Chlorocebus aethiops
